Judge Schatz Spanks Repeat Felon

Last month, repeat felon Billy Russell found himself in the courtroom of Judge Greg Schatz after being convicted of… (deep breath)

-Felon in Possession of a Firearm
-Felony Theft
-Felony Theft and..
-Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

(Whew…Billy was busy!)

Judge Schatz sentenced Billy to 9 to 20 years in prison.

Nice job your honor.

Unfortunately, Nebraska sentencing laws mandate that Billy MUST be released in less than 10 years.

At the tender age of 22, this will be Billy’s 3rd time in prison.

(You read that right loyal readers…3rd time in prison!)

Let’s take a quick look back shall we?

2009 – Sentenced to 2 to 4 years for Attempted 1st Degree Felony Assault.

Enjoyed early release less than 2 years later with no supervision.

2011 – Sentenced to 18 months for Felony False Imprisonment. (an abduction?)

Enjoyed early release 3 months later with no supervised release.

Arrested in March of 2013 for the current conviction.

Yet another “isolated example”….

Yet another stellar example of the failure that is automatic “good time” laws and the state of Nebraska’s current rehabilitation efforts…

…or lack thereof.

By the way…

Watch Billy grow up! (in prison…)

You should give yourself a pat on the back for reciting something everyone who lives in the state of Nebraska has known for a long while….. Keep us posted Dan…. Maybe your next news flash can tell us that the cornhuskers are not in contention for a national title …. Or that its….WINTER. :)

Just another wrist spanking, of course! Judges cannot be expected to become the parents of baby-faced, lack-of-frontal-lobe, I-can’t-be-a-productive-citizen morons like Billy; but they should know that after two previous visits to the Penal Complex, there’s very little hope that this creep will avail himself of ANYTHING BUT and education from his fellow inmates.

NEWSFLASH: He’ll be back, yet again, someday, Judge Schatz! And through the logical progression of this kind of criminal, (already proven in THIS case), it will NOT be pretty for some victim in his future!

The answer lies in Judges who understand the “Real World Effects” of their sentences, instead of ignoring the realities of “early release syndrome.”
